EFFICIENCY AT THE HERNE SITE: COMBINED-CYCLE POWER PLANT, UNIT 6

With Unit 6 in Herne, Siemens has created a state-of-the-art combined-cycle plant in a low-level , single-shaft arrangement. This forward-looking project stands for increased energy efficiency and flexibility in power generation.

A STABLE BASE ON PILE FOUNDATIONS

Due to the challenging ground conditions, an elaborate deep pile foundation was built. This robust structure is essential to carry the high static and dynamic loads of the turbines and generators safely over the long term.

PRECISE DESIGN UNDER TIME PRESSURE

The tight schedule required an early feasibility analysis of the pile foundations. This forward-looking approach made it possible to coordinate critical phases efficiently and to consistently meet the owner's tight timeframe.

DIGITAL EXPERTISE WITH BIM

BCI was responsible for the entire detailed design of the embedded parts. Through the targeted use of state-of-the-art BIM technology, the turbines and generator were integrated with millimetre precision. The result was a high-precision installation that underlines BCI's engineering expertise on this demanding infrastructure project.
