Austria's most powerful power plant is located in Styria. With an electrical output of 838 MW from two units, it plays a key role in security of supply and grid stability for the whole of Austria.
The two units are similar but not identical. Both are built in a single-shaft, elevated arrangement without vibration isolation between the turbine deck and the substructure; in the area of the steam turbines, however, the geometry differs because the steam turbines are intended for different purposes.
BauCon International designed the turbine foundations and carried out all required structural and dynamic checks. To support the client in the best possible way, our experts were continuously on site during the critical construction phases, carrying out quality inspections and acceptances.
