The power plant site in the municipality of Timelkam lies in the heart of Upper Austria, not far from Lake Attersee and Lake Mondsee. Energie AG Oberösterreich, which had long operated several power plants at this site, was looking for a replacement for its ageing coal-fired plant. Siemens Power Generation Anlagentechnik GmbH was commissioned with the design and construction of a modern, clean combined-cycle power plant, and BauCon International was commissioned with the design of the foundations for static and dynamic loads.

To replace the existing plants, a single-shaft unit was chosen, with the gas turbine, generator and steam turbine arranged on a common elevated foundation.

In designing the foundations, which are supported on deep piles, particular attention was paid to dynamic analyses including determination of natural frequencies, forced vibration analysis and the calculation of bearing stiffnesses and bearing deformations (best-line).
